So today is Day 4 and I am officially over Jet Lag—I slept for almost a full night. Yesterday was a great day. The food was awesome—and was very filling! We tried all of these new foods—most of which I cannot remember the name of—but it was a great mix of spicy and sweet. We saw the ICTPH headquarters, met the staff, and saw where we are going to be based out of etc… Everyone and everything seemed very nice. During the afternoon we went downtown and went shopping—we ate sweet limes, jack fruit, oranges, pomegranates etc… it was so nice to finally eat some fresh fruit! After dinner I just hung out at the guest house. The temperature also finally dropped last night (with a very sprinkles of rain) and it felt delightful. Thanjavur is MUCH nicer than Chennai and I am really excited to be here. Actual work is finally about to begin! More to come (as will pictures…. I need to get on taking some!)
